Robin Hambleton is Professor of City Leadership at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He is currently writing an international book on civic leadership and urban innovation. In his forthcoming book, Leading the Inclusive City, the author presents sixteen inspiring innovation stories, drawn from cities in all continents, to underpin the argument that place-based civic leadership, when combined with radical social innovation, can help to create inclusive, sustainable cities.
His presentation explains the concept of an 'Innovation Story' and draws out lessons for policy makers, activists and scholars. The author argues that international, city-to-city learning and exchange is developing as a a powerful way of advancing the creation of more inclusive cities, notwithstanding the continuing pressures of placeless power.
The event is free and open to PSU students, faculty, and staff.
