The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is pleased to announce Fahad Alhajri's MS Project Presentation: "A Comparative Assessment of Crowded-Source Travel Time Estimates on a Suburban Arterial."
Date: Tuesday, August 12, 2014
Location: Engineering Building 315 (ITS Lab)
Adviser: Dr. Christopher Monsere
Travel time is one of the most widely used measures of traffic performance monitoring for the transportation systems. It is a simple concept used by a variety of audience such as commuters, media reporters, and transportation engineers and planners. This research evaluated two sources of travel time data :ODOTs Bluetooth data and INRIX data. The accuracy of the travel time estimates were evaluated against ground truth travel times for 3 days and 3 time periods. Moreover, the time-series behavior of the Bluetooth and INRIX data were examined by correlation testing.
