PSU's Center for Real Estate produces a Quarterly Real Estate Report, highlighting the current trends in real estate as well as an economic forecast of the real estate market. This report is made possible thanks to a donation by OAR (Oregon Association of Realtors). PSU's Center for Real Estate thanks the following organization for their generous participation in this report: Oregon Association of Realtors, Oregon RMLS, Norris Beggs & Simpson, Johnson Gardner, L.LC., Cushman & Wakefield, Wells Fargo, and Willamette Valley Multiple Listing Service.

"Trends in Vacant Single Family Land Values - Portland, Oregon 1990-2005" by John L. Hall and Gerard C.S. Mildner, May, 2006.

  • In a recently completed study, a Portland State University research team has determined that the price for vacant residential land in the Portland metropolitan region rose 500% between 1990 and 2005. The study was conducted by researcher John L. Hall and Dr. Gerard C.S. Mildner, Director of the Center for Real Estate at Portland State University.

Real Estate Development Workshop Projects

Six students from PSU's Real Estate Development Certificate program presented their redevelopment proposal for the Lincoln High School site to over 130 local professionals at the October 2009 Business Briefing Breakfast.

Several graduate real estate students participate in PSU's Real Estate Development Workshop course. In this class students form a real estate development team and produce an original development plan, including the development concept, the market analysis, the conceptual design, economic analysis, capital and operations budget, and management plan. The students' plan demonstrates and applies mastery of the development concepts and tools learned through their real estate certificate coursework.

During winter, this course is sponsored by NAIOP and students travel to Seattle, WA, to present their plan to over 300 persons, competing against 3 other real estate teams from various universities in the northwest. During spring term, the course is sponsored by the Building and Ownsers Management Association (BOMA) and students make their presentation to the local BOMA members at their membership meeting. Copies of the students' workshop projects can be found at the following links:
