Annual Real Estate Conference

The Center for Real Estate hosted its 2nd Annual Real Estate Conference on May 30, 2007, at the downtown Hilton Hotel. This year's keynote speaker, Peter Calthorpe, shared how cities can prosper using the concepts of New Urbanism and sustainability. Calthorpe was followed by a panel of four well known Portland professionals: Commissioner Sam Adams, Karen Williams, Partner with Lane Powell PC, Bruce Wood, Principal of Foundation Real Estate Development, and Bruce Warner, Executive Director of the Portland Development Commission. The panelists participated in a lively discussion on the topic of improving the public/private transaction process and fielded questions from teh audience. Center for Real Estate board member, Scott Langley of Ashforth Pacific moderated the conference and over 600 people attended.

This year's Real Estate Conference will be held on June 5, 2008. Registration can be made at www.foundation.pdx.edu/realestate.

The Annual Real Estate Conference would not be made possible without the generous support of many local real estate companies. We thank our 2007 conference sponsors:

Graduate Student Receptions

Jointly with the School of Urban Studies and Planning, the Center for Real Estate hosts a semi-annual Graduate Student Reception in the fall and spring terms. This event has been designed as a forum for potential employers and graduate students to meet, connect, and explore possible employment and internship opportunities. Participating agencies and organizations will enjoy a unique opportunity to interact with a wide variety of graduate students enrolled in the School’s urban and regional planning, urban studies, and real estate development programs.

The next Graduate Student Reception will be held Friday, November 16 from 4:30pm-6:00pm in the second floor of the School of Urban Studies and Planning. If you are interested in participating in this event, please email stakerj@pdx.edu.
