Annual Real Estate Conference

The Center for Real Estate's 4th Annual Real Estate Conference was held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Hilton Portalnd & Executive Tower. With 21 Event Sponsors, 43 Table Sponsors, and over 600 attendees the event was the best attended conference in the Center's history.  This year's well known speakers were Raymond Torto, Global Chief Economist at CB Richard Ellis and Ron Zuzack, Managing Director of BlackRock Realty Americas. The event was moderated by PSU Center for Real Estate Advisory Board Chair, Scott Langley of Ashforth Pacific.

The Center for Real Estate's 2008 Conference, "Rainbows After the Storm: The Future of the Real Estate Market After the Credit Crunch," included an economic update on the commercial real estate market by economist Joshua Scoville of Property Portfolio Research, followed by a forecast of why commercial real estate will be a good industry for employment and investment by Chris Lee of CEL & Associates. Center for Real Estate board member, Scott Langley of Ashforth Pacific moderated the conference and over 500 people attended. Graduate Student Receptions

Jointly with the School of Urban Studies and Planning, the Center for Real Estate hosts a semi-annual Graduate Student Reception in the fall and spring terms. This event has been designed as a forum for potential employers and graduate students to meet, connect, and explore possible employment and internship opportunities. Participating agencies and organizations will enjoy a unique opportunity to interact with a wide variety of graduate students enrolled in the School's urban and regional planning, urban studies, and real estate development programs.

BOMA Sponsored Networking Receptions

Members of The Portland Metropolitan Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) will co-sponsor three networking receptions in 2009 with PSU's Center for Real Estate. The next reception will be in conjunction with PSU's Business School monthly Business Briefing breakfast on the morning of Wednesday, September 30 at the Multnomah Athletic Club.  The program for this event will entail a presentation of a comprehensive redevelopment plan for the Lincoln High School site by PSU's summer Development Workshop graduate real estate students. BOMA members as well as other members of Portland's real estate community are welcome to attend to network with PSU's graduate and undergraduate real estate students and hear the presentation.
