Leerom Medovoi, English faculty, received a three-year, collaborative, $425,600 grant to study “Religion, Secularism, and Political Belonging in a Global Age” from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for the Portland Center for the Public Humanities. The grant will be conducted on behalf of the Worldwide Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes, and is a collaborative initiative with Utrecht University in Holland, Tel-Aviv University in Israel/Palestine and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Portland Center for the Public Humanities will be the lead humanities institute on this project. PSU was selected out of 150 international humanities centers to coordinate one of the consortium's two global projects.
