Writer-in-residence memoir
The novels of Portland State University's senior
writer-in-residence, Craig Lesley-Storm Riders, Winterkill, River Song, and The
Sky Fisherman-have earned a host of accolades, including a pair of nominations
for the Pulitzer Prize and an Oregon Book Award. His newest and perhaps most
personal, the memoir Burning Fence: A Western Memoir of Fatherhood (St.
Martins, $24.95), is set in the rural communities of eastern Oregon. Burning
Fence tracks Lesley's life through a tale of betrayal, abandonment, and
redemption, capturing the rural humor of its rugged characters. The book has
garnered rave reviews, including selection as a "BookSense Pick" for
December. Lesley teaches fiction writing in the Department of English.
