World's Largest Swim Lesson
On June 20, waterparks, pools and other aquatic facilities around the globe will host local WLSL lessons simultaneously at 11am Eastern Standard Time (3pm GMT) in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record.
The Worlds Largest Swimming Lesson is a national initiative to teach as many children as possible to swim across the country at the same time. The Portland metro area has a goal of teaching 1,500 children. 15 minutes of the lesson will be spent on water safety. 45 minutes will focus on swimming fundamentals.
This was created to serve as a platform to help local community aquatic facilities and the many different national, regional and state wide water safety and drowning prevention organizations to work together to tell this important story on a local and national level.
Please have your child on the pool deck ready to swim at 8:00 am. Children will be broken into classes based on age. There will be a cap of 30 participants.
Children must be between the ages of 4-12 years old.
Following the lesson, all children are invited to go to a party in the gym for games, activities and snacks from 9:00 - 10:00 am (this part is run by Jen so ask her about any questions related to this portion)
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Craig Gosnell at firstname.lastname@example.org or 503.725.5129
