On May 24, the University community celebrated the accomplishments of Portland State faculty members and local community partners at the annual Civic Engagement Awards ceremony.
Through community-based teaching, research, and partnerships the award winners have enhanced student learning at the University while answering community needs. The classroom projects include helping prison inmates, designing modular classrooms, and creating geography education materials.
Honored for helping to build PSU's growing reputation for community engagement were faculty members Todd Bodner, Peter Boghossian, Teresa Bulman, Celine Fiztmaurice, Ann Fullerton, Leslie Hammer, Keith Kaufman, Donald Truxillo, and Ralf Widenhorn.
Awards for excellence were also presented to the Oregon Solutions Green Classroom team, Architecture and Sustainable Solutions; Harvest for Healthy Kids, Community Health; and Social Work's Research Consortium to Increase the Success of Youth in Foster Care. The Portland Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls received a partnership award. Read more >
