Health and Physical Education classes, student recreation, and intramural sports and offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities to students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests.
History
Located
at SW 10th and Hall on the PSU campus, the Stott Center arena seats
1,775 people in its main bleachers. It can, however, be expanded to more
than 2,000 for volleyball, as it was when PSU hosted (and won) the 1992
NCAA II volleyball championship. The 1984 and 1985 championship teams also
hosted the finals at The Stott Center.
The Stott Center was the
site of NCAA II Regional Championships in women's basketball (PSU hosted
and won regional titles in 1992 and 1995) and wrestling. The Center abounds
in history, as the home court of Freeman Williams, PSU basketball legend
of the 1970's. Banners from four PSU team
sports hang from the arena walls as a reminder of PSU's rich athletic tradition
and success.
Opened in 1966, The Stott
Center provides a cozy, intense atmosphere for athletic events. Recent
upgrades - thanks to the generous $1 million challenge grant by Peter W.
Stott - have included enhancements throughout the building and will improve
the athletic experience for fans and athletes alike.
