David Jimerson, baritone, is Associate
Professor Emeritus at PSU. He has had an active career as a performer of opera,
oratorio, and song recital literature.
He has performed with Portland
Opera, Seattle Opera, Reno Opera, Arizona Opera, Boise Opera, and Anchorage
Civic Opera. Professor Jimerson's varied operatic repertoire includes Enrico in
Lucia di Lammermoor, Schaunard in La Bohème, Sonora in La
Fanciulla del West, Sharpless in Madame Butterfly, Alfio in
Cavalleria Rusticana, Gianni in Gianni Schicchi, Prince Ottokar in
Der Freischütz, The Royal Herald in Lohengrin, Papageno in The
Magic Flute, Tonio in Pagliacci, Count di Luna in Il
Trovatore, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Figaro in Le
Nozze di Figaro.
His oratorio performances have been with The Oregon
Symphony, Tucson Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, The Portland Symphonic Choir,
The Salem Chorale, and The Peter Britt Festival Orchestra. These performances
have included The Messiah(Handel), L'Enfance du Christ
(Berlioz), Requiem (Fauré, Mozart and Brahms), Carmina Burana
(Orff), The Five Mystical Songs (Vaughan Williams), and The Christmas
Oratorio (Bach).
In December of 2000 David recorded his CD, "Music I
Heard With You." The recording is of songs by the American composer Richard
Faith and is available on-line at CDBaby.com.
Throughout his career, Professor Jimerson
as received a good deal of critical acclaim.

Several of David Jimerson's
students enjoy active performing careers in opera and musical comedy around the
world.
In addition, Professor Jimerson is in great demand as an
adjudicator in solo and choral competitions ranging from high school level
through the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and the National Association of
Teachers of Singing Artists Awards. He has served as clinician and guest
conductor in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
David Jimerson is the
Minister of Music at Valley Community Presbyterian Church.
