Project Description: The "Oregon's Greatest Wetlands" Project is an effort to identify, map, and gather information on the state's most valuable wetlands. In order to permanently conserve and restore Oregon's wetlands, The Wetlands Conservancy (TWC) is working closely with local communities, land trusts, watershed councils, and state resource managers to build local stewardship and acquire lands. The goal is to provide technical assistance and facilitate partnerships toward the conservation of Oregon's Greatest Wetlands. TWC in conjunction with PSU's Geography Department have created a website to disseminate information about the state's important wetlands and provide:
1) a statewide context and perspective for some localized wetland projects,
2) another tool and source of information for prioritization of wetland and watershed restoration and conservation opportunities,
3) reference sites and case studies for a variety of wetland types and vegetation communities and restoration efforts and, a network for groups or individuals interested in conservation of wetlands to share ideas, resources and develop partnerships.
