Project Description:
PSU students serve as tutors/classroom aides in a bilingual Spanish/English dual immersion program assisting with work in Spanish. The partnership provides PSU students with a much-needed vehicle for using their language skills in a real-world setting while at the same time serving a critical need for Spanish-speaking volunteers in the bilingual program at Barnes. The goals of the partnership include providing PSU students a meaningful discipline-specific community engagement, and providing the children at Barnes with positive role models, thus increasing the likelihood they will attend college.
