About the Portland State Website

Design

We set out to provide two key qualities in the new website design:

  • a clean, usable interface to help you get to the information and services you need quickly and easily
  • constantly changing features to show you the rich variety of people, projects, events and news at Portland State

Features

Take a minute to notice some of the tools on the new site. From the top of the home page down, these features will help you make the most of the new site:

  1. The new Portland State logo always leads you back to the university home page. If you get lost...come home!
  2. Are you a future or current student? Faculty or staff? An alumnus or friend of Portland State? Follow these links to pages tailored for your needs.
  3. Search: when all else fails, search for what you need throughout all Portland State's websites.
  4. Navigate: Eight top-level navigation categories help guide you to what you need. Use the drop-down menus for quick access to major resources (using the Accessible Website Menu by Brothercake).
  5. Feature stories on the home page and elsewhere bring you the big stories happening this month at Portland State.
  6. News: Stay informed about what's happening at Portland State—read everything from the latest university press releases to today's student government announcements.
  7. Events: Fill out your schedule with some of the many arts performances, athletic events, lectures, meetings and other happenings on campus.
  8. Profiles: Find out more about the people, projects, organizations, places and more that make Portland State what it is.
  9. I want to...just get something done. Follow these quick links to the most popular online resources at Portland State.
  10. Give to PSU: help support the students, faculty, programs and facilities at Portland State with your contribution.
  11. Jump to basic information about Portland State in our FAQs, contact info, maps and directions, and sitemap.

Process

Many people collaborated on the new site: The President's Task Force for Integrated Marketing and Portland State's Office of University Communications led the design and content creation in collaboration with Portland's local Sockeye Creative. Last but not least, staff in Portland State's Office of Information Technologies host and maintain the site's infrastructure.
