Goals after Graduation: After graduation, Brian wants to become CPA certified and work abroad through his profession.
Brian was born and raised
in Beaverton, Oregon. He has one sister, Melanie, who is a
registered nurse at Providence St. Vincent’s. His parents immigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines and he is a
first-generation college student.
After graduating high
school, Brian knew he wanted to attend an urban institution. He chose Portland State not only because of its vibrant city
feel, but also for its strong Business Program.
As an undergrad, Brian
commits himself to higher education. He has worked as a 2007 workshop
facilitator for the Asian American Youth Leadership Conference and as a T.A.
for Public Speaking during his Freshman & Sophomore year. This spring he
plans to participate in two Communication Studies conferences with his
instructor. Brian is also a Diversity Recognition Scholar and volunteers 8
hours each term for PSU.
Brian’s mother has always
been an inspiration to his academic success. She once told him, “Never sell
yourself short, you can do anything you set your mind to.” He truly believes
that anything is possible with hard work and diligence.
Brian’s
favorite memory at PSU: Meeting his new friends abroad from Japan. He plans on visiting them
this summer.
