Yoshini Gunawardena was born and raised in Beaverton, Oregon.
Her brother and she grew up as first generation Americans whose parents
immigrated to the U.S.
from Sri-Lanka. She transferred to PSU her sophomore year to pursue a graphic
design major and learn from its urban location. Yoshini is also the marketing
coordinator for PSU's Campus Rec Program, a position that has impacted her life
and shown her the possibilities PSU has to offer. In fact, her favorite
memories and closest friendships have come out of her involvement with Campus
Rec. A quote that Yoshini describes her life with is, "Tell me whom you
love, and I'll tell you who you are." She believes in this quote because
it is those she loves, her family and friends, who have helped shape the person
she is today. The one thing in life Yoshini finds to be most important is
taking the time to laugh; laughing together is something we can all share
and appreciate in the greatest and hardest of times.
