Assistant Principal Bass of the Oregon Symphony since 1985, Ken Baldwin is committed to providing his students with a comprehensive approach to the study of classical double bass repertoire.

His interest in music education has led to long time associations with the Seattle Youth Symphony’s Marrowstone Music Festival and Seattle’s Hammond Ashley Memorial Double Bass Workshop. Former teaching posts include the University of Oregon and University of Portland. He has served on the boards of both the Portland Youth Philharmonic and the Oregon Symphony.

Mr. Baldwin earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and continued his study in Chicago where he was a member of the Civic Orchestra. Prior symphony positions include the Nashville Symphony and Chicago’s Grant Park Music Festival. He has appeared as a soloist with the Oregon Symphony and as a member of a bass quartet presenting at the 2005 International Society of Bassists Convention.
