the New York Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philadelphia
Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Houston
Symphony, the St. Paul Chamber Ensemble, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Oregon
Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and the
Orpheus Chamber Ensemble under such conductors as Masur, Dutoit, Ozawa,
Rilling, Leppard, Kitayenko, DePriest, Llewellyn, Rozhdestvensky, Delfs, Nelson,
Flor, and Wolff.
He has given recitals at Carnegie Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall,
London’s Wigmore Hall (Songmaker’s Almanac), Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, New York's
92nd Street
Y, and the Kennedy Center and the National Gallery in Washington D.C. Operatic performances include leading roles
with the Opera Theater of St. Louis, the Washington Opera, Minnesota Opera,
Fort Worth Opera, Boston Opera, Tokyo Opera Nomori, London’s Barbican Centre
and Berkshire Opera in such works as Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia and Turn
of the Screw, Strauss’s Elektra,
Glass’s Galileo Galilei, Purcell’s King
Arthur and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Following training at Yale College and the Juilliard School,
he won numerous competitions at the beginning of his career, including the Young
Concert Artists International Competition. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the
Bagby and Sullivan Foundations, and has recorded for BMG Classics, Music
Masters, Albany Records, American Heritage, and Newport Classic Recordings.
