Tina L. Johnston, Ph.D.

Tina is a research associate for the Center for Science Education at Portland State University. Her current work focuses on developing the process and plan of research for the Connect 2 Math and Connect 2 Science program funded by a Mathematics and Science Partnership Grant (MSP). She is also serving as a research group leader to support graduate students as they work towards completing Masters and Ph.D. Thesis.

Outside of her university work, Tina teaches mathematics and mathematics education classes at Portland Community College, tutors students from preschool to the college level and supports researchers understanding of Classic Grounded Theory as a fellow with the Grounded Theory Institute.

Tina previously collaborated on three other MSP grants where she helped develop the programming and evaluation, teach professional grants development, and evaluated the successes of the collaborations between Central Oregon schools and the Department and Science and Mathematics Education at Oregon State University. Tina earned her Ph.D. in 2006 at Oregon State University in mathematics education. She has published research on ability grouping and publishing Classic Grounded Theory research.
