As a graduate student in PSU's Conflict Resolution program, Justin Zoradi started a non-profit organization called These Numbers Have Faces (TNHF). Based in Portland, the program confronts generational poverty in South Africa by providing college scholarships for youth in the township of Gugulethu.
A native of San Luis Obispo, CA, Justin did peace work in Belfast, Northern Ireland and spent a summer in South Africa before moving to Portland. He says the CR program played an important role in shaping his theory and understanding for TNHF. "The nonviolence course, helped illustrate the context of post-conflict South Africa," he explains, "and the Peace Education class was fundamental because of its emphasis on relationship building and the role of human interaction as a key component to successful social change."
