Soufiane El Moussi, a Civil Engineering senior, transferred from Portland Community College (PCC) in 2011 where he obtained his Associates Degree. At PCC, Soufiane was involved in student government, and as the Programs Director, had the opportunity to organize multicultural and educational events on campus. At Portland State University, Soufiane has been involved with ASPSU (PSU’s student government), Engineers without Border, and currently works for LSAMP PSU. He is the recipient of the KPFF Consulting Engineering Scholarship, the International Cultural Service Program Award, and the International Student Mentoring Program Scholarship. He is currently conducting Transportation Engineering research under Dr. Miguel Figliozzi.
Soufiane has helped organize and participated in several of LSAMP’s events- from our quarterly socials, Summer Leadership Retreat, PNWLSAMP Regional Conference, S3 Bridge Program, and more.
He is a native Arabic and French speaker, and is currently learning Spanish. He is excited to graduate at the end of the summer, where he hopes to travel to a new country to develop his cultural competency and apply his engineering knowledge in real world situations.
