Sadaf Assadi, a pre-dental student double-majoring in the Health Studies and General Science, transferred from Arizona State University (ASU) where she completed her freshman year in 2010. Graduating from high school with honors, she has continued to excel; she made the Dean’s List at both ASU and Portland State University (PSU) and is also on the PSU President’s List. An active member of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP), Sadaf co-leads the LSAMP Community Service Action Team and has participated in the LSAMP Summer Leadership Retreat for the past two years. Last year she volunteered at the Oregon Health and Science University, School of Dentistry. This opportunity, which allowed her to assist dental students in the clinic, has given her a close-up look at her career field. Sadaf notes, “Going to OHSU was one of my favorite times of the week because I got to interact with the dental students as well as the patients and learn about the field that I love. This experience has made me realize how much I will truly enjoy working in this field!” She also tutors high school students through the PSU Upward Bound Program. Multi-lingual already (Italian, Persian, English, and Spanish), Sadaf would like to learn French and German as well. She will graduate in Spring 2013 and will start as a first-year dental student at OHSU in Summer 2013.
