Dr. Harris came to Portland State University in September 2004 with over 20 years of experience in Human Resources Management and Organizational Development in the public and private sectors. She received her Ph.D. in Public Administration with emphasis in Public Management from Rutgers University in 2003; an M.A. in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado; and a B.A. in Social Psychology with a minor in Organizational Behavior from Park University (formerly Park College).
Upon graduation from Rutgers University, Dr. Harris taught Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management and related courses at Drexel University during the 2003-2004 academic year.
Dr. Harris is also a Commissioned Officer in the United States Air Force Reserve. She is currently on assignment as an Assistant Professor and Director of Special Projects, with the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics in the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). In her capacity, Dr. Harris teaches courses in Health Services Management Administration and directs and coordinates the self-study process for national accreditation for the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for the School of Medicine's Masters in Public Health Program. She formerly served on active duty in the United States Air Force.
