Nathan Cogan, Professor Emeritus at PSU, made a generous donation to the Portland Center for Public Humanities to promote holocaust and genocide studies. The Holocaust and Genocide Studies Project organizes lectures, symposia and curricular development workshops.
Professor Cogan taught in the English Department at Portland State University from 1976 to 2001 and developed a course on the literature of the Holocaust in 1986, which he taught until 2002. With this donation, Professor Cogan’s hopes to increase awareness about the Holocaust and other forms of genocide at the college and secondary school levels. He is also an advisory board member of the Holocaust and Genocide Studies Project at the Portland Center for Public Humanities.
