Meet Professor Ron Narode

Ron Narode, EdD,is an associate professor of mathematics and science teacher preparation in the department of Curriculum and Instruction. At PSU since 1990, Dr. Narode has worked on many collaborative grants to support mathematics and science education in Oregon and in the nation. His areas of expertise are in cognitive processes instruction and assessment, as well as mathematics and science teacher preparation. He currently leads cohorts for the math and science secondary graduate teacher education program and supervises both master’s and doctoral students. Dr. Narode received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy, his master’s degree in physics, and his doctorate in math and science education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He also taught in the mathematics department for the University of Massachusetts for eight years. He has had a Fulbright Teaching and Research Fellowship at the Universidade do Minho, Braga, Portugal, and a senior lecturer position at the University of the South Pacific, FijiIslands. He is currently conducting research in teaching and learning to incorporate literacy into mathematics and science instruction.
