Meet Professor Jacqueline B. Temple

Jacqueline B. Temple, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Portland State University. Her career has focused on investigating the tensions between theory and practice in preparing teachers for inclusive diversity. She engages in collaborative research to change the cultural landscape of teaching and to balance the educational playing field for students whose ethnicity, language, culture, and abilities differ. Her scholarly agenda and research is in examining the complexities of meanings around the process of inclusion and the search for strategies that foster cross-cultural collaboration and social justice teaching.

Dr. Temple is a Fulbright Scholar to the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland. She is also the coordinator of the International Teacher Education Program (ITEP). These experiences have increased her interest in international and comparative education. Through program development and implementation, leadership in multicultural education, and the internationalization of the curriculum, she continues to work toward the creation of intentionally inclusive communities that reflect her commitment to diversity, while making a unique contribution to the mosaic of faculty talent.
