Jason Lee (MBA, 2008) is an outstanding Portland State University MBA graduate.

While Jason was a student at Portland State University he secured an internship at Vestas, the Danish manufacturer, seller, installer, and servicer of wind turbines. His job at Vestas helped build his resume and eventually helped him secure a job at PECI.

2008 was a very difficult time for the American economy, so Jason had to find a way to stand out. He leveraged Portland State University's reputation for advocating sustainable business practices, his previous experience at Vestas, and an on-campus networking event to get a job at PECI.

PECI is an award winning non profit organization working to "design and manage energy efficiency programs for utility providers, government organizations and other clients". Their programs aim to promote the understanding and adoption of energy-efficient technology, and demonstrate the value of efficient homes, retail spaces, offices and warehouses. PECI is headquartered in Portland, OR.

Influencial professors for Jason include Donna Philbrik, Dave Garten and Janet Hamilton. He says Janet Hamilton stands out because although her finance class was difficult, it taught him many of the skills he now uses at his job at PECI.

As a key accounts manager for PECI, Jason manages key customer relationships and works with numerous stakeholders to design, manage and implement large, multi-site energy efficiency retrofit projects. He has to demonstrate the value of energy efficent solutions to justify their implementation to his clients.

Jason's love for international business was inflenced by his service in the Peace Corps.  During this time Jason helped a rural village increase their ability to earn and manage money.

A member of the Graduate Alumni Council at PSU, Jason's advice for current MBA students is to never forget the importance of being on time and professional when dealing with others. A little bit of professionalism goes a long way! You can connect to Jason on LinkedIn.

Author's note: Thanks for taking time to meet with me, Jason. Your career story is inspiring to current MBA students. We appreciate your work.
