Martha Hickey (1992) Ph.D.
Martha Hickey’s research interests center on topics related to 20th-century Russian
literature and culture. Her study The Writer in Petrograd and the House of Arts
(Northwestern University Press, 2009) considers the emerging voices and themes of
post-revolutionary Russia, focusing on the writers, artists and literary theorists who
gathered at the House of Arts in St. Petersburg from 1919 to 1922. Dr. Hickey received her degree in Slavic languages and literatures from Harvard University. She is currently Director of International Studies and teaches language and literature courses in Russian, and courses in English on Russian modernism, Soviet and post-Soviet era Russian narrative and film.
