Joanna Means joined University Housing & Residence Life at PSU in 2012 and loves working with the most diverse college student population in Oregon. After discovering her passion for supporting college students to discover and reach their academic and personal goals while serving as a Resident Assistant in 2002, Joanna explored a few career options and eventually earned a Master of Education degree in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University. She then served as an Area Coordinator at Willamette University for four years before moving to Portland and PSU.
Joanna is a native Oregonian, even including a rather stereotypical dislike for umbrellas! In her free time, Joanna hangs out with her cat (which is also part dragon), visits her family, crafts, hikes to see beautiful trees and rivers, and reads fantasy novels. She also hopes to fit in more dancing and martial arts in her schedule! Joanna looks forward to eventually returning to grad school to earn an Ed.D. in higher education and student affairs administration. She loves visiting the PSU Farmers' Market -- you might see her at one of the gluten-free bakery booths there!
