Joel Lane, PhD, is an assistant professor for the Counselor Education Department and coordinator of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. He completed his doctorate in counselor education at Oakland University in the Detroit, Michigan area. He specializes in counseling children and adolescents and in providing post-master’s supervision. His research interests include life transitions in emerging adulthood, attachment theory, and the impact of various counselor and client characteristics on counseling outcomes. He is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences, and was active in advocacy for the counseling profession in the state of Michigan prior to his arrival at Portland State University.
