Daniel Meeker teaches scene design, lighting design and other design related courses for the school. He also designs scenery and lighting for mainstage productions. While Daniel is new to PSU he has lived in Portland since the summer of 2009, having moved with his wife from Brooklyn New York to raise their two children in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Daniel has been very active in Portland theater working as both a set and lighting designer for Portland Center Stage, Portland Playhouse, Artists Repertory Theater, Profile Theater, CoHo Productions, Broadway Rose Theater, and Live On Stage, and he will be making his debut with The Oregon Children’s Theater in 2013. Daniel is a frequent designer at San Jose Repertory Theater in San Jose, California. In addition to theater work he has a number of trade projects he designs for in New York City as well as longtime relationships with a number of New York based choreographers. Before moving west, Daniel designed over 150 productions in New York, New England and on the east coast. Prior to PSU, he was a faculty member at his undergraduate alma mater, Ithaca College, where he taught courses in scene design, drafting, design presentation techniques, and scene painting. Daniel holds an MFA in Design from the Yale School of Drama and is a member of United Scenic Artists local 829.
