Comic Rocket is a crowd-sourced indexing tool for users to find, read, bookmark and share their favorite webcomics and is a Portland State University Business Accelerator company-in-residence. Founded in 2011, Comic Rocket makes discovering, reading and tracking online comics easier for readers and provides tools that help creators broaden their base of readership.
There are nearly 100,000 online titles available on the web and Comic Rocket has indexed and made nearly 10,000 of them available to readers. Using Comic Rocket, readers can find comics to add to their reading list as well as add titles to Comic Rocket’s list.
Comic Rocket also tracks a reader’s progress, making it easier to pick up right where they left off and Comic Rocket's system for recommending titles helps readers find new comics. Comic Rocket aims to provide users the best online reading experience while helping the creators of webcomics by providing exposure to a fast-growing, dedicated community of targeted consumers.
Aside from having residence in the Business Accelerator, Jamey Sharp, Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder of Comic Rocket is a member of the Portland State Aerospace Society and has led groups of programmers for Portland State’s Capstone Project.
