About Us:

The Center for Interdisciplinary Mentoring Research (CIMR) at Portland State University fosters collaboration among faculty from Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Business Administration, and Engineering and Computer Science to chart new directions for research and practice across multiple domains of mentoring, including youth development, higher education, and workplace mentoring.

The Center for Interdisciplinary Mentoring Research

  • provides a catalyst for communication and collaboration among researchers
  • supports the development of innovative research projects and proposals
  • builds partnerships with organizations in the community that provide or promote mentoring
  • fosters dissemination of mentoring knowledge to those who can apply mentoring research to practice
  • supports faculty and students interested in mentoring research
  • improves the visibility of mentoring research between academic colleagues, students, and the community at large
CIMR provides a structure to support research collaboration across academic disciplines and mentoring domains. It also provides a forum for connecting research and practice in the settings where mentoring occurs in schools, communities, businesses, colleges, and universities.
