Bryan Norton. Lecture at the Portland Center for Public Humanities
Bryan Norton. Lecture at the Portland Center for Public Humanities

Bryan Norton, Professor at Georgia Tech, has addressed the problems of species loss, degradation and “illness” of ecological systems, the problems of watershed management, and most recently, the problem of placing boundaries around environmental problems so that they can be modeled for study and management. In addressing these problems, Norton unifies many disparate views in creating a theory of sustainable development that captures the key role of human values in the search for better policies to protect nature and humans of the future.

In June 2010 he gave a lecture (Rejecting a Third Dogma of Empiricism: Beyond Separate Discourses of Fact and Value) at the Portland Center for Public Humanities.
