Arturo Garcia has a passion for mathematics and cannot imagine a higher calling than being a teacher in the K-12 system or at a community college. In 2009 he obtained his bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Portland State University and is currently finishing up a dual master’s program. He is pursuing a Master’s of Science in Teaching Mathematics and a Master’s in Statistics. Arturo strongly believes that it is crucial to reach out and provide support to underrepresented students because, in many cases, these students just need an inspirational role model to encourage them. He hopes by becoming a teacher he can be that role model needed by so many young students.
