NAKED recent paintings by Laura Ross-Paul MFA '76 (and PSU art instructor), Froelick Gallery, 817 SW Second Ave., Portland, October 31 to November 29
The figures in Laura Ross-Paul's paintings hover between an emotional world and real world--sometimes dreamy and other times poignant. Ross-Paul balances these multiple dualities with vibrant color, translucent layers of oil and wax, and glimpses of the natural environment.
An active exhibitor and teacher throughout the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years, Ross-Paul is among the foremost painters of the region. Her narrative imagery is known for potent, direct emotion, which has earned her paintings a place in the collections of museums nationwide.

HIROSHIMA-NAGASAKI A-BOMB EXHIBITION 2006
Littman Gallery, 250 Smith Memorial Student Union, weekdays: noon to 4 p.m., November 2 to 29, free
The citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, launched this traveling exhibit in 1995 to convey the realities of atomic bombings and, more importantly, to push for peace. The exhibit consists of photo panels, video, and A-bomb artifacts--many of which belonged to school children who died, whose stories are told in accompanying narrative.
