David Maier, Computer Science faculty, has received an award that extends his participation as a sub-contractor for the Center for Coastal Margin Observation & Prediction. CMOP is a National Science Foundation Science & Technology Center led by Oregon Health & Science University in collaboration with Oregon State University, University of Washington, Portland State, and other universities and organizations. Maier participated as a subcontractor during the initial five-year period of CMOP, which was just renewed for another five years. CMOP studies geological, chemical, and biological processes in estuary and near-ocean systems, with particular focus on the Columbia River. Maier’s main role has been with the "cyber-infrastructure" that supports the observation and computer modeling activities of the center.
