WHY REDUCE REUSE & RECYCLE?
From resource extraction and production to distribution and disposal, the life cycle of an average product has a huge environmental footprint. By choosing durable goods, and reusing or recycling existing products, we can greatly minimize impacts on our environment as well as save money. In other words: The best option is to produce less waste in the first place through consuming less and reusing items.
Eliminating the consumption of one ton of paper from virgin fiber (by purchasing recycled-content paper or saving paper) saves the equivalent of 17 trees and prevents air and water pollution.
Examples of waste reduction include using e-mail instead of paper documents, getting off "junk" mail lists, using a durable coffee mug, and sharing subscriptions.
