Climate Action

Portland State University is one of 665 signatories to the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). A major component of this commitment is to develop and submit a campus-wide plan for achieving carbon neutrality. PSU is now working to implement actions that support our Climate Action Plan goal of carbon neutrality by 2040.

On May 24th, 2010, PSU President Wim Wiewel signed the Climate Action Plan (CAP). The most current draft of PSU's 2010 Climate Action Plan is available for public viewing and comment. The CAP is meant to be a living document that will be updated to adequately reflect the current, on-the-ground realities at PSU. If you have comments or questions, please contact greencampus@pdx.edu.

Climate Action Plan Implementation Team (CAP-IT)

PSU has formed the Climate Action Plan Implementation Team (CAP-IT), an advisory body to the Campus Sustainability Office, to oversee implementation of strategies to meet the goals contained in the 2010 CAP. Strategies may include a range of activities that result in greenhouse gas reductions in building energy use, materials consumption, travel, and transportation. The CAP-IT sets priorities and interim goals, establishes tracking metrics to evaluate effectiveness, creates and manages financing strategies, lobbies for institutional buy-in, and informs annual progress reporting.
