Will Parnell, Early Childhood Education faculty in the Graduate School of Education, received the 2012 National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators' Award for Technology Leadership in Early Childhood Education at the association's annual conference in Atlanta, Nov. 7. Parnell's 2012 paper, "iDocument: How Smartphones and Tablets are Changing Documentation in Preschool and Primary Classrooms," published in the National Association for the Education of Young Children's journal Young Children, served as the impetus for the award. The president of NAECTE had this to say: "Will's ability to help students construct a bridge between technology and documenting to make learning visible is amazing. Adults are not always comfortable with technology, but Will's expertise makes them realize that technology is their friend and not an obstacle to overcome. The work Will has done with teachers, children and technology has not gone unrecognized."
