When will the Men's locker room shower area be closed?
The Rec Center Men's Locker Room showers will be closed from from Sunday, March 16 through Wednesday, March 26, 2014.
What does the closure of the Men's Locker Room include?
Only the showers will be closed in the men's locker room. The restrooms, sinks, and lockers will continue to be available and accessible. However, you will be able to hear construction noise as contractors will construct a barrier between the showers area and the rest of the locker room. They will enter the work zone from the pool entrance.
Why will the Men's locker room showers be closed?
The showers are leaking significantly into the Kaplan center below, much like the women's showers which were leaking into the UPS Store.
What types of repairs will you be doing?
The entire shower floor, and portions of the wall, will be removed so the waterproofing can be rebuilt.
Are you going to issue membership refunds?
No. There is no equitable way to refund students and affiliate memberships. However, we are providing alternatives for those needing to use the shower facilities outlined below. Additionally, we will be offering a token of our appreciation for those impacted during the closure.
Where can men shower during the closure?
Men will be able to use the Universal Changing Rooms that are located near the pool area. We ask that men spend as little time as necessary in these rooms and return to the locker rooms to finish getting ready, unless there is a need of the accommodations that the room provides to a person with a disability.
We ask women, unless needing a similar accommodation, refrain from using the Universal Changing Rooms altogether.
