Larry Remmers has joined Portland State University in the new position of executive director of the Center for Real Estate.

Remmers, former senior vice president for Wells Fargo Bank, started Jan. 1.

The Center for Real Estate formed in 2004 and offers master’s degrees and graduate certificates in real estate development as well as an undergraduate degree in real estate finance. It is a joint venture of PSU’s Nohad Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning and the School of Business Administration. The program is guided by 36 Portland real estate executives.

In his new post, Remmers will foster business relationships, raise money and develop all of the center’s programs.

Prior to joining PSU, Remmers served as regional manager for Wells Fargo’s Real Estate Banking Group in Portland and Seattle. He retired in July 2012. He holds a doctorate in history from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Remmers has served on the Center for Real Estate’s executive committee as well as the boards of numerous nonprofits, including the Oregon Sports Authority Foundation, the Marylhurst University Board of Trustees and the University of Washington Runstad Center for real Estate Advisory Board.
