About the event:
Obamacare is considered the biggest legislative change to the American healthcare system in nearly 50 years. As the country prepares for major provisions of the law to come into practice on January 1, 2014, please join us to learn about insurance exchanges, Medicaid expansion, the individual mandate, and much more.
The event will include:
- An overview of health insurance concepts
- An overview of the American system for financing healthcare
- What changes has Obamacare already brought?
- Who will be affected by forthcoming changes and how?
- Why is the law controversial?
A Q&A session will be held after the presentation.
About the speaker:
Rajiv Sharma, Associate Professor of Economics at Portland State University, is an expert in health economics and has been researching and teaching about the economics of health and healthcare for nearly 20 years.
