A Healthy You is a Healthy U

What sweeping changes could you make in 10 weeks? If you ask any of the over 230 Healthy U Wellness Challenge participants, they’ll tell you that they’ve increased their daily servings of fruits and vegetables, cut their soda and sweet consumption, are getting more sleep, exercising more frequently and changing a variety of different habits in their daily routines to be stronger, healthier and more eco-conscious. In addition to some great incentives on changing some less than healthy behaviors, the challenge provides a host of resources and information to participants in learning new strategies for getting fit, losing weight, reducing stress, adopting sustainable practices, goal-setting and more. Not only does it support individual health, it also fuels team spirit through fierce competition. With 23 teams competing to top the leader-boards from week to week, it’s given both students and staff/faculty a push to feel their best and increase their energy while supporting one another along the way. Heavily attended events, committed point logging and an increase in usage by Healthy U Wellness Challenge participants in the Rec Center has proved that a little healthy competition supports an ecology of wellness.
