Geology & Waterfall Hike on the Eagle Creek Trail, Columbia River Gorge

OPEN TO THE FIRST 20 HIKERS TO REGISTER: Geology & Waterfall Hike on Eagle Creek Registration Form

Join the Dept. of Geology on a spectacular 4 mile round trip hike into Punchbowl Falls on Eagle Creek. This is a quintessential hike in the Pacific Northwest, we will hike along a path developed on a Columbia River Basalt flow boundary overhung by vertical basalt cliffs, into a series of spectacular waterfalls that down-cut into these youthful volcanic flows. Explore the surrounding geology on this breath taking hike with professors from the department and members of Coriba (the Geology club). This is an easy to moderate 4 mile hike. Students should bring; comfortable hiking shoes, a backpack, lunch & snacks, 2 liters of drinking water, sunscreen, a hat, swimming attire if desired (water temperatures will be cold). Rain gear depending on weather. We will have lunch at Punchbowl falls. This is a full day FREE event.

3-5 PM we will be hosting Brain Freeze - a University Success open house. This is a great time to get free ice cream and learn about the amenities we offer to residents and all PSU students.

5-7 PM we will be hosting Brain Food - this is a chance for first year students to have dinner at Victor's dining hall with a student leader and ask questions about preparing for the first week of classes.
