Getting Started with OMSE

OMSE Registration Instructions

Pre-qualification
To take any OMSE course, you must have at least two years of software development experience evidenced through a resume or similar document. Certain courses specify pre-requistes - you should identify prior courses or undergraduate programs that satisfy these pre-requisites (see courses page). Email your document(s) to omse@omse.pdx.edu. The OMSE Program Office will review your information to qualify and approve you for registering in the course - typically within 3 working days.

You do not need to be admitted to the OMSE program to take OMSE courses.  In fact, we strongly suggest students take 2-3 courses in the OMSE curriculum before formally applying to the program.

Read the information below on how to get established as a PSU student:

Getting a PSU ID and PIN for First-Time PSU Students
If you have never registered for a course before at PSU, you will first need to complete and submit a Quick Entry form. Click here to begin: PSU Quick Entry process and look for the "online quick entry form" link. The quick entry form does not admit you to PSU nor to the OMSE program.  It establishes you as a PSU student taking PSU classes.

Registering in OMSE Courses
Once you receive a PSU ID and PIN you will be able to register in OMSE courses via the PSU Information System (AKA Banweb). Quick Entry students are able to start registering in courses approximately 3 weeks prior to the first day of the term. If you have forgotten your PIN, you will need to have your password reset by calling the PSU Help Desk at (503)725-4357 or by sending an email to help@pdx.edu.

Getting an ODIN Account
Most OMSE courses use PSU Online (Blackboard) to access course materials. You will therefore need a PSU ODIN account number and password. You will be issued a PSU ID and pin by going through the Quick Entry process mentioned above.  Once you have received your PSU ID # and pin via email, you may go to the Odin Account Manager (OAM) to continue the student account set up process.

Course Registration Numbers (CRNs)
Every course offering is assigned a Course Registration Number. CRNs for the current term can be found on the course schedule page.

NOTE: OMSE does not "print" OMSE CRNs on the main PSU online course schedule.  You'll need to get the OMSE CRNs from our website prior to logging in to the PSU Information System to register for classes.

PSU Graduate Students: If you have been admitted to a PSU graduate program, contact the OMSE program office at omse@omse.pdx.edu to register for OMSE courses.
