Secure Shell (SSH)

SSH is a technology that allows you to securely access your PSU webspace and Unix home directory on Odin.

Connecting with Windows

Download and install the SSH client PuTTY. Open PuTTY and do the following to configure it:

  1. For Host Name, enter "odin.pdx.edu".
  2. For Port, type 22.
  3. For Connection type, make sure SSH is selected.
  4. At the bottom, select Open.
  5. In the prompt, type your Odin username and press Enter.
  6. Enter your Odin password and press Enter.
  7. Press Enter, which brings you to the Main Network Access Menu.
  8. Press the 4 key to exit to the shell prompt, then Enter.

Connecting with Mac

  1. Open the Terminal application.
  2. Enter: “ssh YourOdinUsername@odin.pdx.edu” and press Enter.
  3. Enter your Odin password and press Enter.
  4. Press enter, which brings you to the Main Network Access Menu.
  5. Press the 4 key to exit to the shell prompt.
