Through the Office of Information Technology (OIT), Portland State University has signed on as a partner of STOP. THINK. CONNECT., the global cybersecurity awareness campaign, to help all digital citizens stay safer and more secure online.

In an effort to address the growing security concerns around computing, OIT recently launched a number of initiatives aimed at making the campus computing experience safer. This includes providing information and educational opportunities to increase safe computing awareness. During Portland State of Mind 2013, OIT hosted a series of Tech Talks, including a presentation on digital security and an interactive panel discussion on IT security awareness on campus.

Partnering with the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. campaign will help OIT promote awareness of online safety across the campus. By joining the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Partner Program, OIT has gained exclusive access to a number of resources for future campus security awareness activities.

“As the world is increasingly interconnected via technology, we all share the responsibility of knowing and practicing safe technology usage. Joining the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. coalition gives OIT a set of useful tools to help inform the PSU community about these practices.” - Chuck Lanham Associate CIO/CISO Academic and Customer Services

STOP. THINK. CONNECT. was created by an unprecedented coalition of private companies, nonprofits, and government organizations, with leadership provided by the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Anti-Phishing Working Group. The campaign was launched in October of 2010 by the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Messaging Convention, in partnership with the U.S. government.
