Ford Motor Company rolled into Portland this week for an invitation-only event at Electric Avenue -- the joint research and development project launched by Portland State University, Portland General Electric, and the City of Portland in August 2011. Attendees received a lunch hour briefing before heading over to Electric Avenue to test drive four new Focus Electrics that carry a best-in-class city fuel efficiency rating of 110 MPGe. Our friends at Ford also conducted a contest for the two dozen attendees at the Focus launch: To select from three competing sites (OMSI, Oregon Zoo, and Electric Avenue) where Ford will donate and install its first charging station in the Portland region. By an overwhelming vote, the Oregon Zoo swamped the competition. Thanks to Ford and congratulations to the Oregon Zoo!
