4.3.13 Technology Management PhD student Thien Tran was the runner up in the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) for the graduate student literature review prize. 4.1.13 The National Science Foundation (NSF) challenges STEM graduate students across the nation to submit innovative ideas to prepare them for tomorrow's opportunities and challenges. Entries are solicited for ideas with the potential to improve graduate education and professional development. Winners will be recognized by NSF and receive prizes of $1000 to $3000. The Center for Student Health and Counseling is holding two workshops to help PSU students understand the new PSU Student Health Insurance Plan. Insurance Education 101 workshops will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m. in 236 Smith Union and Wednesday, February 13, 2013, from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. in 294 Smith Union.

1.9.13 Call for paper and poster Presentations for the Campus-Wide Student Research Symposium. Undergraduate and Graduate students of all disciplines are encouraged to participate. Both paper and poster sessions included. Please click on the link above for information on the symposium and how to submit. The submission deadline is March 8, 2013, and the symposium will be held May 8, 2013.

11.26.12 Literature Reviews for Theses and Dissertations, an informative workshop that will be led by Gretta Siegel will be held Friday, December 7, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm in Room 160 in the PSU Library. A complete literature review conducted in an efficient and organized manner can set the stage for success in a large research project like a thesis or dissertation. This session will show students how to conduct a literature review. This session will not cover citation management programs such as EndNote, Zotero, etc.
   
11.16.12 The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has extended the opportunity to apply to the Presidential Management Fellows program Class of 2013. The application will remain open for all applicants until Monday, November 26, 2012, at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. The entire application process, including submission of all necessary documents, must be completed before this date and time. Information on the PMF program is available on the website.

Posted 10.10.12 Elisabeth Wilder, a PSU graduate student pursuing an M.A. in Sociology, has received a University Club Foundation Fellowship Award.  The University Club Foundation awards merit-based scholarships for the pursuit of excellence in academics in the areas of fine arts, humanities, and sciences.  There is one graduate student recipient from each of five universities in Oregon: Willamette University, Oregon State University, Portland State University, University of Oregon and University of Portland.
   
Posted 10.3.12 Chloe Massarello, a Winter 2012 graduate with an MA in History, has been selected as a finalist for the WAGS/UMI Distinguished Master's Thesis Award for Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, and Business.  The title of Ms. Massarello's thesis is William Marshal, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, and the Commissioning of the History of William Marshal.
